Beauty | Gwen Stefani Urban Decay Palette Review and Swatches

This week my make-up addiction reached an all-time high. I was the 2nd person in the UK to buy the Gwen Stefani palette for Urban Decay – which went on sale in stores on November 25.

I was so excited to try Urban Decay’s newest addition as they are such a staple in my everyday make-up routine. I think out of all of the Naked Palettes my favourite has to be number three as they offer such a wide variety of pinky/nude matte and shimmer shades.

When I heard about the release of Gwen’s palette, I signed up to the online waiting list and rung the store to reserve one for when the delivery came in. When I went to collect it from Urban Decay Covent Garden it felt like Christmas had come early and hearing that I was 2nd in line was even more exciting.

Before pictures were released of the palette, I thought there would more of a variety of shocking shades because of Gwen’s quirky sense of style, but surprisingly, the only shade I wouldn’t wear would be ‘Danger,’ as I’ve never worn a shades of blue and don’t plan on starting now!

I have to say, I absolutely love this packaging and as Gwen designed every aspect of this palette, I didn't expect anything less. It's a great size too, not too big or bulky for travelling or carrying in your bag like most palettes.

Tucked inside the box were also four testers of Gwen's lipstick for Urban Decay, I'm really excited to try these.

Here are some swatches from my favourite shades, I love how pigmented they are.  I think one colour I'm going to use most is 'Pop' as I love a champagne/pinky shimmer shade for a base colour. I'll definitely get lots of use out of that.

I'm so excited to experiment with the different colours this holiday season, I can see '1987' being very popular with the upcoming Christmas festivities.

Is the Gwen Stefani palette on your Christmas list? If so, what's your favourite shade?

Lifestyle | My city break in Venice

I had the most amazing time in Venice – what a beautiful city it was. I’m so lucky to be able to visit as we have a family friend living in a nearby town. We got the train into the city and then hopped onto a water taxi to see the gorgeous sights.

Another than the amazing food, I think the best thing I loved about this city is how traditional it has stayed – no modern buildings in sight or obscuring your view. The city is totally preserved in its natural state, which I adored.

Here are a few snaps from my trip. If you ever get the chance to visit – make sure you do. Until next time Venice…

Lifestyle| What’s in my Suitcase

I think I'm the only person in the world who loves packing, whether it’s a weekend away or a two-week get-away to Greece – I really enjoy it. It gets me really excited for my trip and I love planning what I'm going to be wearing and what make-up looks to go for.
Luckily enough, I'm off to Venice for a long weekend away with my mum. As we fly early on Friday morning I thought I would share with you guys what I’d be taking with me on my city break. We only have a hand luggage allowance, so I won’t be taking as much as I usually would.

My hand luggage case is from

Poncho, Primark, £10
I wasn’t really a fan of these ‘blanket’ type ponchos - I guess it was because I was unable to find one that didn’t swamp me and was more chic than ‘blanket’ looking. One my way out of Tottenham Court Road, Primark, I found this sitting on the end of a rail…it was the only one and at £10 I could resist. The print and shape really reminds me of the Burberry Prorsum A/W 14 personalised ponchos (I wish mine was!) Despite the lack of initials, this item is a defo must-have for my Venice get-away.

Fedora, Urban Outfitters, £24
Floppy hats are having quite a moment this A/W. I picked this felt fedora up at, Urban Outfitters, last year but haven’t been able to wear it since and I've decided that this trip is the perfect excuse. Its deep burgundy colour is so versatile and can work with many coats and even my poncho!

Fujifilm Instax camera, Argos, £70
I think this is quite possibly my favourite possession EVER. I think it’s strange that cameras that print photos have become a novelty but anyway I absolutely love this camera. The Polaroids are great for keepsakes and albums. The camera also adds a great vintage filter to every picture – making an improvement on my photography skills!

Backpack, Michael Kors, £305
I got this backpack as a gift whilst in Canada earlier this year, I absolutely love it. It’s great for city breaks as it has an iPad pouch and sits nicely on your back. The colour is not so great for A/W given its pastel blue colour but I just love it’s size – perfect for being out and about.

Brightening face primer, That Girl, Benefit, £20.25
Selfies are essential on a city break so I like to prolong my make-up for as long as possible when out exploring. I’m really enjoying this brightening primer by Benefit – it’s especially great for the colder weather as your skin can be quite dull and dry. I apply this under my foundation and it has great staying power with a dewy finish - a must-have for pictures and long walks around the city.

Book, Fashion Babylon, Imogen Edwards-Jones, £6.99

I've been trying to read this book since Uni and failed miserably on every occasion.  Although I might be busy during this long weekend, I'm hoping for some down time during the evenings and on the plane. Fingers crossed I can get through it!

Beauty Crush | October Wishlist by nancycamp1 featuring Kiehl's

So pay-day is just round the corner and I've put together this little skincare wishlist. Now, I love a good wishlist but this month I have put together an ‘affordable’ wishlist for the upcoming month – this is due to my recent (and crazy) desire to save money.

I’ve wanted the Pixi Glow Tonic (£18) for a while after reading some amazing reviews. I think this product would fit nicely into my updated skincare routine as I am missing a toner. As it gently exfoliates and tightens pores – I think this would be a great final step before bed.

Next is the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream (£24) this has featured on many blogs/vlogs as a Holy Grail product. As some of you may know, I suffer from really dry skin so finding out about a new moisturiser with some great reviews is really exciting.

Finally, is the Nip + Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Night Pads (£8.45) my sister introduced me to these and they have been on my wishlist ever since. Again, this is another great skincare step before bed. I’m really excited to try these – purely because of their amazing smell.

Life | Top 10 Interviewing Tips

I
Image found on: http://ellenzee.tumblr.com/post/65736398490
Interviews can be a horrible experience. You stay up all night preparing, putting together the perfect ‘hire me’ outfit together, panic about oversleeping, being late or getting lost, only to arrive and pull a total mind blank. You’re lost for words and before you know it that position you've worked so hard for has grown legs and ran for the door.

However, a certain degree of nerves is a good thing, as it can keep you focused and passionate but the most important tip is turning these nerves into positives and use them to your advantage.

Following these tips should put you at ease, allow you to speak with confidence and clinch that job you've always wanted.

Tip one: It’s all in the outfit
When putting together your perfect ‘hire me’ outfit make sure it’s appropriate for the day ahead. The night before practice walking, standing in your shoes and sitting down in your outfit. There’s not a worse feeling than the morning of the interview finding an alternative for your extremely tight skirt! Feeling comfortable and presentable is a great start to any interview.

Tip two: Leave plenty of time
If you think you know the way, 99 per cent of the time you don’t! You’ll panic, think it looks different from before and arrive in a flustered state. Leave an added 30 minutes onto your journey for time to find parking or get through the morning traffic. If you arrive early you can always take another look at your notes before you go in.

Tip three: Be bright
When you first meet your interviewer, work through the initial ‘OMG’ moments by making eye contact, smiling and commenting on the surroundings or weather. It’s all about ‘faking’ that confidence and making them believe it.

Tip four: Give a firm handshake
A good grip can send a great first impression to the interviewer signalling that you’re interested and positive about the situation ahead. Try and channel your nerves into your handshake and it’ll no doubt work in your favour!

Tip five: Always ask for a refreshment
Now, this may sound strange but if you are offered either a glass of water or tea or coffee, always accept. Throughout your interview you might need a few seconds to pull together a perfect answer, taking a sip of water can allow you to this and calm your thoughts. Also, your mouth might dry up and this is a great way to alleviate this problem!

Tip six: RELAX!
Before the interview begins, it’s important to remember the most obvious tip but one that is often forgotten. Loosen up! Most of the hard work is over. You’re not late, you’ve made your initial introductions and no one knows more about you than YOU! Everybody gets nervous and it’s perfectly OK.

Tip seven: It’s OK to pause
In an interview situation, pausing to think or gather your scattered thoughts can seem as if an hour has passed since you last spoke. Do not worry about this. Pausing is good, it can give a sense of confidence and it’s definitely not the end of the world.

Tip eight: Engage with the interviewer
Towards the end of the interview, you can mentally start reviewing how it went, often causing you to loose concentration. Don’t get caught up on the past, focus on the present. Listen intensely, respond intelligently, nod along and continue to make eye contact.

Tip nine: Ask great questions
If you’re asked ‘do you have any questions?’ always reply, yes. Questioning the interviewer is a golden rule and makes the interviewer think you’re keen about the role and that you’ve done your research. This also takes the pressure off of you for a few moments while you calm yourself and see whether this is the perfect place for you. Ask intelligent and well-researched questions that will set you apart from other candidates.

Tip ten: Make them remember you
When the interview comes to an end and you’ve asked your amazing questions don’t sit back and relax just yet! When you’re walked out, make eye contact, commenting on how the interview went or the office environment. When you shake hands end on something that is going to make you memorable.

Review | Louis Vuitton Series 3 Exhibition

It's the exhibition that everyone is talking about. From 21 September an old office space was transformed into the Louis Vuitton Series 3 Exhibition and yesterday my friend and I took a trip to the Strand neighbouring Somerset House, to have a look.

The FREE exhibition is open to the public and gives us a glimpse into the world, Nicholas Ghesquiere, the Creative Director of the brand. The exhibition documented his whole creative process from his inspirations to the final product being hand made by Parisian Artisans. As well as impressive selfie lighting, mirrored walls, walk-in wardrobes and catwalk projections the exhibition was the perfect fashion evening.

If you're in London and you have a night spare you must check it out.
